FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Where is Spring Island and how do I get there?
Spring Island is a private community in Okatie, South Carolina, about 35 minutes from both Savannah, GA and Hilton Head Island, SC.
Most guests will fly into Savannah (SAV), rent a car, and drive in. Visit the 'Getting There' tab for more information. We will provide the exact address and check in information closer to the date!
I've never been to Spring Island! What should I expect?
We are so excited to celebrate with you! It’s quiet, private, and full of natural beauty—think: Spanish moss, marsh views, and front-porch wine (or bourbon) energy.
We’ll make sure you have everything you need to feel relaxed and confident once you're through the gates.
When can I arrive?
Family members may arrive as early as 10:00am Thursday, October 16th. Friends may arrive as early as 10:00am Friday, October 17th. For friends who requested Thursday arrival in the guest cottage survey, we will finalize plans with you accordingly!
We'd love for you to enjoy the Island. See the 'Things To Do on Spring Island' tab for more details!
Can I bring my kids/pets?
While we love your little ones and pets, respectfully, our chosen venue and provided accommodations are not conducive for children. We appreciate your understanding that we have opted for adults-only events and celebration. Pets are not permitted.
What is the weather like?
October on Spring Island is beautiful with highs in the upper 70s and lows in the low 60s, mostly sunny with about 70% humidity. Chance of rain is minimal and gentle breeze is likely. Just perfect!
What should I pack for the weekend?
Spring Island is a wild, natural place. You will likely be walking on uneven ground, grass, gravel, and sand. Please pack shoes that are comfortable and provide stability. Saturday's activities may involve some time in and/or on the water so consider packing a waterproof windbreaker, sandals and swimsuit. Activewear will be necessary for other activities on Friday and Saturday. Welcome Party attire is Smart Casual. Wedding attire is Cocktail and it’s suggested you bring a light sweater or jacket for the outdoors. Bug spray and sunscreen are also recommended!
Are there places to eat?
Please note that there are no bodegas, corner shops, pharmacies, grocery stores, or any other amenities on the Island. Our hosted weekend events will include food but we do recommend stopping for any must-haves or snacks on your way in. Free coffee, tea, lemonade and cookies are available all day at the Golf House and The Gathering Room. View the 'Explore Off Island' tab for places to eat in nearby towns. Breakfast for purchase will be available from 8-11am and lunch for purchase will be available from 11am-1pm at The Golf House, credit cards accepted. Friday: For those who arrive early, a group lunch will be provided. Dinner will be provided at the welcome party. Saturday: Complimentary lunch will be provided at the pool. Dinner will be provided at the wedding. Sunday: Brunch will be provided at the West home.
Will I have cell phone service?
Cell phone service is extremely spotty on the island so there is no guarantee you'll have great service (or service at all). Most guest homes and cottage homes have WiFi, however. But don't worry! We will provide ALL information you'll need for the weekend upon arrival.
What do I do with my car?
A car is REQUIRED. Parking will be available at your designated accommodation and the Golf House, as well as at shooting facility for Friday and the recreation center for Saturday daytime activities and lunch. View the 'Getting There' tab for more car rental information.
Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?
Weather permitting, most of our events will be outdoors.
Where should we book accommodations?
One of the many things we love about Spring Island is the generosity of this tight-knit community. In that spirit, the residents of the island customarily host wedding guests in their guest cottages and quarters for the duration of the festivities. We anticipate that each of our guests will be accommodated in this way. Please complete the 'Cottage RSVP' tab to help us accommodate your visit!
As we get closer to the wedding, we will share further accommodation details with each of our guests. See the 'Accommodations' tab for more information.
What's the dress code?
Garden party festive! Think fun, semi-formal, and outdoor-friendly.
Men: sport coats or suits, no ties required.
Women: dresses, jumpsuits, or anything you’d wear to a stylish outdoor soirée.
Important: there’s grass and gravel—choose shoes that won’t sink or stress you out.
